Born in 1982, child of the digital revolution, Julien Levesque is a French artist who explores digital matter and its potential artistic representations. He places the Internet and the data that circulate therein at the center of his practice and questions, through his appropriation of technological tools, our systems of representations in the era of dematerialization.
Visual artist of the net, he develops a sensitive approach to our consumerist and connected environment. Far from a disembodied aesthetic dominated by machines, his work combines many materials and everyday objects with digital, analog and lowtech techniques. Through his amused vision and his technological diversions, he creates a set of digital curiosities where a touch of absurdity and poetry mingle.
Julien Levesque's work has been exhibited at the Salon de Montrouge, Show Off, Jeu de Paume, Center Pompidou, CNAM, Futur en Seine, Forum d'Avignon, IMAL ...
Julien Levesque is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris as well as of the University of Paris 8. He was also a research student in the Ensad Lab laboratory at the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs.
